Third North Website
So. For those of you who haven't, you should check out the Third Avenue North
website, designed by Explorations (Photography) RA Rory. There's information on all the RAs for your building so you can start facebooking (it's sad that it's now a verb) to your hearts content. It's also a nice chance to learn a little about the upperclassmen RAs on your floor so you'll know what to expect.
Go on, then.Edit: I've fixed the link. Sorry about that.

I'm sure you're all as clueless as I am...
...but I figured I'd give it a shot:
Does anyone know of a bank that's near/on campus, and maybe has a nice deal for students? I have to transfer my pitiful little bank account soon, and I don't know where to transfer it to!
Also...were any of you rising sophomores in Te-1401? Someone said that a 12 person suite takes up a whole floor, but how big is a 9 person?
Thanks! Current Mood: curious

I'm so happy I finally know who my roommate/ suitemates are, but there are 12 of us listed on the notice and I'm a little confused. Any ideas as to how the room is set up? (Te-1001)

Schlepping from Third North to Silver at 8AM
I see it's a little dead here, but I figure I'll ask my question anyway.
(Also, the obligatory brief introduction of myself. Hi. Name's SaRa. Major's Politics. Hometown's Scranton, PA.)
I've got an eight o'clock class Tuesday and Thursday since I was the lucky one to draw the last slot in the when-do-you-get-to-register lottery at orientation. Not being a morning person, I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to get there so I can catch a few extra minutes of sleep. The class is at Silver. If anyone else has had a similar experience, would the shuttle be worth my while, or would walking be a better bet? I'm thinking walking, but my mother insists that it'll be cold and dark in the winter, so I should avoid walking and check out the shuttle.
This 8:00AM class had me hoping for Weinstein just so I could get up at 7:30 instead of 7:00, but the thought of Third North is definitely growing on me.

We now can just enter the last four digits of our social security number, scan our palm on a scanning device, and be granted admission. Hopefully things will progress as follows:
Semester Two: Retinal Scanning
Semester Three: Voice Recognition
Semester Four: A moving sidewalk which passes us through the hand scanner, retinal scanner, voice recognizer without us having to walk at all.
Semester Five: A free haircut and shave as we stand on the moving sidewalk.
Semester Six: A bell will ring the "Shave and a haircut - Two bits!" tune as we pass.
Semester Seven: Anal suppository computer chips that will allow our identity to be instantly verified. A stool sample is required for the first initial identification. A robotic arm will shake our hand as we enter the building.
Semester Eight: No more anal suppositories. Now those robotic hands will also give us a light spanking of encouragement on the behind as we enter, and a computer will match our reaction to this versus our personal profile in the computer system to verify our identity.
I'm so excited about this. This is why NYU is worth 46,000,000 dollars a year (it'll be that much by the eights semester).
I'll miss the anal suppository in the eighth semester, though.

A directory of cell phone numbers will soon be published for all consumers to have access to. This will open the doors for solicitors to call you on your cell phones, using up the precious minutes that we pay lots of money for.
The Federal Trade Commission has set up a "do not call" list. It is called a cell phone registry. To be included on the "do not call" list, you must call from the number you wish to register. The number is 1-888-382-1222 or you can go to their website at www.donotcall.gov.

Is anyone else's cable not working, or is it just me?
I'm in the north tower, if that helps.
|Friday, September 10th, 2004|
first time post and very pointless.
I swear my roommate and I have the smallest room in all of 3rd North =( We're in 610S
and room B.
And does anyone own the movie, Rushmore? Or has anyone seen it around anywhere? I know it's a pretty random question, but why not ask anyway.
Er, so I'm retarted at LJ, and had NO idea how to join or post to a community. But now I do. And I say, Hail fellow 3rd Northians! Has anyone else noticed how awful this place is for a freshman dorm? In Weinstein and in Ruben (the two others I've been too), everyone's just so damn friendly on their floors! And everyone knows each other! People on my own floor don't recognize me, and I'll be damned if I know 10% of the people in my tower, let alone the other two towers.
Yeah. So. That's the end of my mini-3rd-North rant. It's almost 2. I have to go swim tomorrow morning. I skip off.
*salutes* Current Mood: bitchy

come on you computer savvy people...help a girl out...
so my roomate and i were so cool the first day because we hooked up our computers to the internet using a router and it worked...for about three days. now it won't, and i don't know why. we still have internet in our room, but when i tried to re-connect the router stuff, it says it won't configure. i've checked everything over and over, and there must be something i'm missing.
help? i'll...iunno. bribe you with baked goods.
you know you want to come take a look.
I don't know if any of you others would be interested in this, but The Decemberists are coming on the 27th, and then again on October 13th. I'll probably be going to both shows. Anyone else?

Well, I hope everyone has been moved in all proper-like and everyone was able to fit their eight cart-loads of goods into their rooms. I also hope you've hit the shops and the social scene and added a little money into the city's coffers.
I also hope you all enjoyed your RAs making a fool of themselves in order to make you feel comfortable here. Hopefully, it won't be the last time.
Just wanted to make sure everyone was good with their rooms and wanted to also say that Second Floor South Tower does indeed rock the house, if not with earphones on while rocking said house.
